Society and Economics

Cayman has the highest per capita income in the Caribbean, equal to or exceeding that of the United States and its GDP is CI$ 73,694.  English is our primary language and the American dollar is readily accepted.  Our local currency is the Cayman dollar which is pegged to the US dollar at $1.25.   Caymanians are friendly and warm and the society is cosmopolitan with over 40 countries represented here. 

Climate

The Cayman Islands simply have great weather, there is no better way to put it. We experience cooler weather with gentle east north easterly winds from November to March. The hottest part of the year is from May to September and heaviest rainfall is from May to July and again from October to November.

Job Opportunities

The Financial Services sector provides 67% of our GDP making the Cayman Islands a sweet spot for any professionals in the financial, legal or financial IT fields. 85% of the worlds' hedge funds are incorporated here, which along with banking, capital markets, trusts and fiduciary services create a leading global financial hub.

The second largest industry is Tourism which provides wide-ranging employment opportunities.  Cayman has a number of employment agencies and a total labour force of over 47 thousand people.

Transportation and Communication

Cayman is served by American, Delta, US Air, Air Canada, West Jet, Jet Blue and British Airways as well as our own national flag carrier Cayman Airways. There are also excellent satellite telecommunications and courier services.

Tertiary Education

Grand Cayman has two colleges, the University College of the Cayman Islands and the International College of the Cayman Islands.  It is also home to the Truman Bodden Law School and St. Matthews University School of Veterinary Medicine.
